A charity gift card is an indicator of control over a small donor-advised fund. The purchaser of the charity gift card creates the donor-advised fund with the charity gift card purchase money. When the charity gift card recipient “spends” the gift card, the recipient is in actuality advising the holder of the associated donor-advised fund (typically the charity that issued the charity gift card) to send the money to the charity that the charity gift card recipient selects.

Each Charity Gift Card is customized so that you can order any denomination, down to the penny, between $5 and $10,000. For example, to celebrate an upcoming event in 2018 or 2019, you may wish to give a card in the amount of $20.18 or $20.19.

The charity gets 100% of the face value. All contributions are distributed by the GoodCoin Foundation. The GoodCoin Foundation finds and vets the charities in our database, as well as distributes your donations in a timely manner.

When you purchase a charity gift card you pay for the face value of the card plus the fees. The fees are $1 + 2.9% of the face value.
We do not share any customer names or contact information with charities unless you ask us to. Donations are made from the GoodCoin Foundation.
Yes, after you buy a Charity Gift Card you will receive a receipt that can be used to deduct taxes as allowed by law. The receipt is sent by GoodCoin Foundation, a South Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation recognized under applicable IRS regulations. The person spending a Charity Gift Card is not entitled to a tax deduction. Please consult with your tax advisor for specific advice about taking tax deductions.
Our gift cards do not expire and may be used at any time.
